The Peace Gong- Children read between the lines

The Peace Gong is part of the Media and Information literacy initiative of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore Foundation. It is a children's newspaper aimed at giving young people a platform to write and develop understanding of issues of social concern.
Mission
To building bridges of friendship amongst children across the world so that they can connect and work towards a global non-violent future through the Peace Gong.

From a report on the Peace Gong special edition on volunteerism release, 2010:

“To ensure a global non-violent future, children should be encouraged to volunteer to build bridges of friendship amongst young people. Promotion of child participation in community-building would not only contribute towards trans-generational progress but also lay the foundation of an active young citizenry who are aware of their rights and duties.”

The volunteer initiatives ranged from teaching underprivileged children, working with the elderly, leprosy patients, recycling, working with the blind, blood donation camps, visiting cancer patients, and creating awareness about the environment to mobilizing the community for ensuring cleanliness and sanitation.
